Weekly Update: April 30, 2025
Word from the Pastor:
I hope and pray this weekly newsletter finds you doing well. I’ve got a morning routine—and it’s sacred to me. It starts with home-roasted coffee, the Bible, whatever spiritual book I’m currently reading, and my spot on the couch. This week I started Jesus Changes Everything by Stanley Hauerwas. It’s a fantastic read—short chapters, punchy insights, almost like a devotional.
If you don’t already have a morning rhythm that grounds your day spiritually, I can’t recommend it enough. Seriously, start there.
But here’s a thought that’s been stirring in me, prompted by this book: What if we backed up a bit? What if, before we think about how Jesus changes our actions, morality, or behavior—whatever blank we’d usually fill in—we asked how Jesus changes the whole framework?
What if Jesus changes the definitions? The scoreboard? The metrics for success? The meaning of life itself? Even what it means to “win”?
Because here’s the thing: if we just tweak our behavior without changing what we’re aiming for, we’ll end up chasing the same old outcomes—just with different tools. That’s how we get stuck in legalism, burnout, nostalgia, or boredom.
Our culture teaches us to prioritize relationships with the powerful, wealthy, and influencers—but Jesus says what matters is making friends with the excluded, outcast, poor, and voiceless
Our culture glorifies accumulation and excess —but Jesus calls us to simplicity and generosity.
Our culture tells us to climb the ladder—but Jesus invites us to lay our lives down.
Jesus changes everything. And it starts with what we value, how we measure, and what we truly see as important.
Have a great week, and we’ll see you on Sunday!

Volunteers Needed
Our church needs your support! If God is calling you and you are interested in a volunteer opportunity, please complete this form or contact one of the trustees or pastor. Thank you! https://forms.gle/K2AFU9b9fbeoiZyM7
The Board has a working list of volunteer needs relative to the church service and maintenance items at the church. Be on the lookout for this list and be in prayer about how you can help.
If you have a gift of organizing and/or managing, please consider the Hospitality Coordinator volunteer position. This is an organizational role responsible for recruiting and assigning volunteers for the Sunday Social Hour, 5th Sunday luncheon, holiday meals and general business meeting snacks, etc. Duties of the volunteers that you recruit would include set-up, clean-up, and keeping the kitchen stocked with supplies (coffee, sugar, creamer, paper goods, condiments, juice).
Social Hour: Sundays at 10:00 am
Our social hour is a great way to get to know each other over breakfast tacos! We meet in the Education Building at 10:00 a.m. before the 11:00 a.m. church service.
Dripping Springs Helping Hands Pantry
Beginning the month of February, the 2nd Sunday of each month is designated for pantry donations. Please place your nonparishable food items in the blue barrel in the Education Building.
